    I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Amphony L1520's. I had previously purchased the L1550's which seem to be identical to the L1520's (5.8GHz, almost same specifications) but these had a peak output power of 50W while the the L1520 seems to have 20W. The problem with the 1550's was audio distortion even when adjacent to the transmitter - so it wasnt an issue with range.

    We have had more success with the 1520 20W version than we did with the 1550. In fact we stopped selling the 1550 due to our RMA rate on these. However, the manufacturer just notified us of major changes to the 1550 design and will be sending us a demo for us to evaluate. Will post how those evaluations go.

    Just a few comments on these audio transmitters:
    1) output power is peak power. To get RMS power divide by sqrt(2); i.e about 14W RMS
    2) operates in 5.8GHz band. While this is good to avoid the 2.4GHz interference from 802.11b/g WiFi, cordless phones, microwave ovens, wireless cameras etc etc, 5.8GHz provides a lower range (the higher the frequency the lower the wavelength and the more the effect of environment - can penetrate fewer walls).
    3) The 30' Non-Line of sight (NLOS) coverage is merely an estimate. E.g if you are using this in a steel bunker good luck in getting to the other room
    4) The transmitter has no provisions for interference avoidance and does not use spread spectrum transmission to combat narrow band interferers. The implication of this is that this device might interfere with 5.8GHz systems such as 5.8G cordless phones.
    5) The audio specifications are indeed quite impressive for a wireless solution

    When dealing with RF spectrum analysis and without expensive tools to do a site survey to measure frequency, bandwidths & power levels of the target location, your best bet is to test it out in the actual situation and take advantage of RfWeL's exceptional return policy. i.e after doing some due-diligence to understand what other transmitters are available and target coverage areas.
