Hey,

Will a DIR-655 Wireless Router work with an Alltel EC228 Wireless Internet Card?

The D-Link Helpline tells us that we have to have a DSL/Cable modem for it to work but some people tell us we don't need it and that the EC228 will work...

Thanks,

NetGirl.

No it will not work. Sorry. The DIR-655 is NOT a cellular band router. It's simply a WiFi router (offering the latest 802.11n WiFi) and therefor you do need a cable or DSL internet connection. The USB port contained in the DIR 655 is for sharing printers and storage drives and not for connecting a cellular USB data card.

What you need is a cellular router such as one of these here. To find some suggestions of routers compatible with this modem you can go to this page: Alltel Data modems
