VSWR is related to reflection coefficient — how much power reflects back to transmitter. Perfect VSWR is 1. The closer to 1 the better. High VSWR wastes power, can overheat and damage the transmitter, and RFICs often limit output power when reflected power is high. Match impedance between antenna and cable connector (50 Ohms for RF, 75 for CATV).
