The new firmware TopGlobal released a few days ago fixes the issue with the Sierra Wireless AC881 and AC881U data cards.
Before the firmware came out there was a configuration change that you could make inside the configuration portal of the routers that would allow the router to work with those cards. With this new firmware you no longer need to make that change. I have tested it and it works great.
The firmware version is 1.1.4 pre2.
