Can the Kyocera KR1 support 1xRTt

I had purchased the ZTE mobile router which is actually quite impressive due to the many features such as bluetooth, print server, pbx etc but was very disappointed when i went out of town to a place with no evdo. So now before I buy the Kr1 need to confirm that it supports 1xRTt ...

1xRTT on Alltel and the KR1

Yes it does ... but my caveat is that since I'm using Alltel I have the Kyocera PC 650.... so it might just be that Kyocera fixed 1xRTT support for just their router which is very unlikely. That's too bad on the ZTE i was actually planning to get one of this particularly since it has a free PBX and VOIP interface .... I talked to one of the Wireless support guys at rfwel and they confirmed that ZTE just supports WCMDA/1xEVDO.

          KR1 works with the A900

Make sure you have latest firmware 1.007. You can get that from here: http://support.dlink.com/products/vi...oductid=KR%2D1. If you need help getting it to work call RfWeL and a support tech will usually help you out probono gratis (even if you did not get either from them). Usually the mobile router manufacturer will not help you out with the phone setup and the phone manufacturer or carrier will not help you with the mobile router so it does help to have someone who can help with both.

            Kr-1 with Sprint's 595U

Anyone using the KR-1 with the Sprint 595 U USB data card? I just ordered the router and was informed that it should work with this card. But the word "should" scares me a little.

I have seen it work once and not work more than once. When it could not work we were able to ping an external ip address suggesting that we were online but were unable to use go online with a browser. This is also not officially supported by Kyocera even with the latest firmware. Hope you did not get that from RfWeL wireless support - if so we will be happy to send out a Linksys 3G router and waive shipping as the AC595 works flawlessly here. Here are details for the Linksys cellular router http://www.rfwel.com/shop/?target=pr...&cat=72&page=1

                Kyocera KR1 & 595U

Actually corrections on above post -- this was refering to the 595 PC card. We do not have any info on the 595U USB working or not. The Novatel Merlin U720 USB modem works fine but since there're issues with the 595 PC card we're skeptic if the 595U will work even before official Kyocera support.

                  Sprint EX720 with Kyocera KR1

In the thread above it says that this is supported with
                  pcmia adapter
Is this the adapter you are alluding to: http://www.rfwel.com/shop/catalog/PC...ter-p-745.html ???

                  This adapter
converts from PC card (32-bit cardbus or 16-bit PCMCIA) to Express card
... do you guys know of anything that will do the opposite i.e convert from Express card to PC card. This is what I would need to use the Kyocera or linksys mobile router with my Sprint express aircard.

                    dueladapter

I think the duel adapter is designed to connect Express Card notebook computers with existing PCMCIA cards, and am not aware if it also goes the other way round.. will look into that..

                      Kyocera KR1 & Sprint U595 Aircard

It works! Was surprised too since i saw from other forums online that the Sierra 595 does not work. Now just need to find a booster antenna for it. Anyone has any ideas if this is available?

That's great news! We havent done our testing yet as we dont have the U595's in stock as of yet. We do have the cellular antennas & adapter for the U595 here: http://www.rfwel.com/shop/catalog/Sp...nna-p-891.html

                            Kr1 & Px-500

When purchased, they (KR-1 & PX-500) worked on/off rapidly. Now with EVDO, and Roaming 'Rev A' in my area, neither work. I suppose the KR1 needs replaced or sign up for another modem with a new 2 year contract. It never ends.

                              KR1 & PX-500 Compatibility

KR1 still works with PX-500. We have a few KR1's left in stock and a few PX-500's (both are EOL) that we have tested as late as last week and they work. First thing to make sure is that the KR1 has the latest firmware or at least Rev 1.010. It's unfortunate that sometimes when they upgrade the firmware they break compatibility with devices that used to work and then come back later with a new firmware upgrade that fixes the broken compatibility. You should upgrade the latest firmware here: http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/kr1-router/firmware.htm

If you are in the market for a new router then yes the KR2 is definitely the way to go. Not only does it now support Express devices in addition to PC Cards, it has the latest 802.11n MIMO technology for increased range/datarate. You can check that out here: http://www.rfwel.com/shop/?target=pr...roduct_id=1067
