  • Cradlepoint CBA750 & Juniper CX111.

Juniper CX111 appears to be an OEM CBA750. Nice device and decent user interface. Running CX111 in my Lab with IKE/IPSec tunnel(s) for back-up ISP service over Clear Wireless and Time Warner Roudrunner Mobile with Juniper SRX210h routers.

I have tested with the following USB modems:

    Clear Sierra 250U USB
    Clear Franklin U300 USB
    Time Warner Franklin U301 USB

all running w/ 5.2.226 modem code and 1.7.2 flash.

    All function well. :-)

The Juniper does have one advantage - The management is accessible in-band on the LAN port via VLAN 3900. On the Cradlepoint you have to move the config switch to "0" and point a PC sitting on net 192.168.0.0/24 to HTTP://192.168.0.1 to configure, then move the switch back to "1" to operate mode. With the CX111 you configure a dot1q Trunk interface on your router with a native VLAN tag for untagged pass-thru IP traffic and a L3 interface that sits on VLAN 3900 numbered in 192.168.0.0/24 for the management PC. I did this in my Lab - It works quite nicely and for that reason to us, the Juniper CX111 is worth the extra $$$. I doubt that the CBA750 will run the Juniper code thought... :-\
