  • How many users?..

How many users can be connected to the CradlePoint MBR1000 router at once?

    Thanks,

Hi, While there's no hard limit on the number of concurrent users practical limits are in the tens of users. The practical limits really have to do with:
    1) Router internal resources such as size of buffers and RAM. Each connected users utilizes these internal finites resources. The embedded processor for such routers are also not that fast.
    2) Air interface. The more the users the more the collisions between users (collisions are normal for CSMA/CA protocols like 802.11n) the more collisions the more the repeatition of the packets and hence the lower the throughput. So the more users are connected the less the throughput for each users.
    3) The cellular backhaul. EVDO RevA and HSDPA cards both give less than 2Mbps of speed and all the users connected concurrently to the MBR1000 is sharing this same backhaul path so the more users that are connected the slower it is for everyone.

Practically have seen about 20 users with no issues.
