Alltel Corp. inked a deal with NBC Universal to offer the media and entertainment company?s network content to its wireless subscribers.

The agreement includes distribution of eleven video-on-demand channels, mobile Web sites, ringtones, ringback tones and wallpapers, which will be available via Alltel?s Axcess data service.

All of NBCU?s short-form video channels will be available to Alltel wireless customers, including content from NBC News, Access Hollywood, Telemunod, Late Night with Conan O?Brien, Bravo, Sci Fi Channel and USA Networks. Also available will be content from and full episodes of NBC?s ?Friday Night Lights.? Alltel customers will also have access to mobile Web sites including NBC Spots, MSNBC, USA Network and those for television shows ?The Office? and ?Heroes.? The two companies said they plan to make more sites and content available in the future.

?We look forward to expanding our relationship with NBCU over the coming months and to offering customers even more content and choice in their wireless experience,? said Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless product management for Alltel.

The news comes as NBC works to expand its efforts in mobile. The company recently signed similar deals with MobiTV and others.
