iPhone Proves Tough to Unlock

Initially boastful that they could unlock it in less than a week, hackers are still working to unlock Apple's iPhone. Within days "DVD Jon" released an "activation tool" that allows users access to all of the phone's features expect the cellular function.
But two weeks after the phone's release, no one has been unable to unlock the phone. Currently the phone can only be used on AT&T's EDGE network; once hackers successfully unlock it, the handset could be used with other operators.
Collaborators who post on the #iphone chat site have stated that they are close to overcoming the last hurdle to be able to write programs for the phone, which would allow them to write an unlock program.
