I live in the Midwest in a relatively flat area. I use sprint mobile at home and at work, and at my house only get 1-3 bars of 3G signal. I know the location of the sprint tower, and I know that it is also capable of 4G. As a matter of fact, on my way home, less than 3 miles from my house, I have a 4g Connection.
I need either a directional antenna (Periodic, dipole????) Or a signal booster (Wilson????). I have no problem mounting the antenna outside on the roof and place an antenna inside to rebroadcast the signal. What is the best route to go on this? The goal is a 4G connection as I need data and the ability to carry on a cell call at the same time.

If you need to travel 3 miles to get a decent signal there is a chance that the antenna alone may not work for you. In this case you would need a bidirectional amplifier (signal booster). Again we would need to know what frequency band sprint is using in your area which would determine what type of antenna/amplifier was right for you.
